2002 Wisconsin Aviation Business of the Year

In April, the Wisconsin Aviation Trades Association (WATA) honored Peter and Carrie Halbauer by naming their business, Skycom Avionics, Inc., "Wisconsin Aviation Business of the Year" for 2002. Skycom is located at Waukesha County Airport, Waukesha, Wis.

Presentation of this year's award to the Halbauers symbolizes that "ma and pa" operations are alive and well in Wisconsin - something we can all take great pride in. Not unlike the family farm, aviation businesses owned and operated by families require a total commitment - oftentimes sacrificing their personal lives for the long hours required to run the business. Despite the long hours, the Halbauers have been successful in balancing both family and business in building a business aircraft owners in the Midwest have come to respect, appreciate and depend on.

Congratulations Pete and Carrie and all of the employees at Skycom Avionics on your work, and thank you for the many contributions you are making. Also in this issue of "WATA Difference," read about another husband, and wife team, Nick and Jeane Quint and their son, Joe, of Blackhawk Aircraft Maintenance, located at Rock County Airport in Janesville, Wis. Like the Halbauers, the Quint family deserves our respect and support. They, too, are helping to move Wisconsin by air!
